DIY Superhero Mask

The long gap in posts was not intentional but with uni exams, assignments and a week of being sick, the blog had to take a back seat. Exams over, assignments petering out, and antibiotics taking affect, the blog is finally getting some attention again. Just because I've taken a little break from posting doesn't mean I haven't been creating up a storm, I just haven't had the time to sit and write about it. I promised to post a few more details from Charlie's birthday party, so here's a fun little craft that the kids got to do. Click below for directions and more pics.
Let's get started! First download and print the superhero mask template from here. Next gather your supplies:
  • Felt (amount depends on how many masks you're making)
  • Thin elastic
  • Thread (co-ordinating to match the felt colour)
  • Scissors
  • Sewing machine
  • Pins
  • Sparkle foam (cut out shapes such as stars and lightening bolts)
Step 1: Using the template, cut out two mask pieces out of felt

Step 2: Cut enough elastic to fit around half of your little one's head.

Step 3: Pin the two felt mask pieces together with the elastic pined into each side.

Step 4: Zigzag stitch around the outside of the mask and the inside of the eye holes.

Done!

For the party, I placed each mask in a cellophane bag with glitter stars, foam stars and lightening bolts. Each superhero got to go crazy with glue pots and glitter and really make their masks their own. Super fun!

I'll be back soon with one more superhero party post.

Party on!
